Ridgeway Run 2026!
Ridgeway Academy are proud to announce their first-ever 5K charity run, that took place on Friday 1 May 2026 bringing together students, staff, families, and the wider community to raise vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. The inaugural event marked an exciting milestone for the school. Student and staff participants of all abilities joined the run, which followed a route around the local area, starting and finishing on the school grounds. Staff and students raised in excess of £7,000 and all proceeds from the event will go directly to Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people facing cancer by providing specialist care and support during treatment and recovery.
Mrs Mitcherson, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative: “We were incredibly proud to host our first 5K run in support of such an important cause. This event is not just about fundraising—it’s about raising awareness, fostering community spirit, and empowering our students to make a positive impact. Special thanks go to Culinera, the school’s catering provider, who kindly sponsored the event” Judith Anderson, Relationship Manager, Teenage Cancer Trust, said: "I' m truly inspired by these students of Ridgeway Academy - their compassion, energy and teamwork show the incredible power of young people coming together to make a difference for those facing cancer. Their support ensures that specialised Teenage Cancer Trust nurses, support teams and hospital units are there for young people throughout their treatment and beyond. "
